A Year in Review 2013

Uncategorized 12 . 31 . 13

It is crazy to think that another year has flown by. Looking back, it has been an awesome year! I have photographed 25 couples start their lives together and almost 50 portrait sessions. This marks the first year I have had a commercial location. I pushed myself to limits of productivity I never thought I could handle alone. I feel so blessed that I get to photograph so many awesome people. I have also made many new connections and friends this year. 2013 was the first full year we have lived in Jefferson City. I feel like I have finally adjusted and I can normally get places in town without using my navigation (pathetic, right?). The best part is the capital city finally feels like our home.

Nick and I started our video services and filmed our first handful of weddings this year. We have also taken on several commercial projects. One of which was the Best of the Road Competition for Rand McNally and the City of Jefferson City. Pretty cool when we won! Nick is currently working on a website and other materials to offer his video and filming services to the public next year. He will be taking a select number of weddings and commercial projects for 2014. I am amazed at how awesome he is at video and photography; I guess his teacher is pretty excellent ;) He started shooting with me this year, and I constantly found myself liking his shots over mine.

I launched a new website this year and started re-branding my business. It was time for a fresh look as my last website was over 2 years old. I will be adding new content on a regular basis and have added in some new categories which include information for photographers, brides, and seniors. I am excited to share information with all our you about shooting and my business. I am happy with the amount of work I have had published in magazines and websites/blogs. It is always exciting to see your work loved by others.

The personal highlights of our year include celebrating our 2 year wedding anniversary! We also started small projects on our home; hoping that 2014 will be the year for our big remodel. Nick started his MBA this year and will graduate with his Masters in 2015. I  feel that we have made great improvements getting organized personally and with our businesses. That feels so good! I have taken on more personal projects this year than any years past. These projects are refreshing and keep me inspired. I look forward to shooting more on my own time and perfecting this craft.

2014 is going to be the best year yet. I made some new rules about how much work I will be taking this upcoming year. I am looking forward to spending more time with my family and exploring new cities and opportunities. I also plan on giving back the knowledge that I have absorbed from other professionals in the photography industry. That’s right, I will be teaching again this year! I am looking forward to offering a class and one-on-one consulting for other photogs in the near future. I have a couple of new exciting ventures coming for 2014 so I guess you will just have to stay tuned :)

Thank you for your continued support and best wishes to all of you in 2014. Happy New Year! Cheers!
