2016 Senior Model Styled Shoot – Fugitive Beach, Rolla Missouri

It is so exciting to finally be able to share our 2016 senior model styled shoots! This year I have 12 gorgeous, talented, and amazing young women as apart of my team. They represent high schools in Jefferson City, Columbia, and Westphalia. We are planning some really neat things this year and I can’t be more excited to work with these ladies again.

Since the group is the largest I have ever had, I decided to photograph two styled shoots instead of one. We did a styled beach shoot and an apple orchard styled shoot. I can’t wait to share all of them, but first is the beach shoot at Fugitive Beach in Rolla, Mo. I remember shooting at this location years ago before it became Fugitive Beach. It has changed so much since I had been there. It was the perfect spot to pull off a beach look in central Missouri.

High School Senior Styled Shoot- Alex

As many of you know, I am a staff writer for an amazing online resource for creatives, Fstoppers.com. With this job comes lots of awesome perks to work with other photographers in the industry and get the latest and greatest insight on new businesses and products. This spring a new business called, Dream Shoot Rentals, caught my eye. I immediately contacted the great, Lindsay Adler, who is a fashion photographer in New York and launched this idea earlier this year. Her new business is offering photographers the ability to rent high-end couture dresses for a fraction of the cost of buying these one of a kind pieces. She allowed me to create my own dream shoot with her line. I knew I wanted to do something styled with a senior as there aren’t that many styled senior shoots out there. I fell in love with this dreamy cream dress and lace mask. My plan was simplicity, and to build the shoot around gorgeous sunlight. I enlisted the gorgeous Alex to be my model. I photographed her senior pictures this past Fall and she was a dream. I knew her long dark hair would pop against my simple neutral background. We photographed out at Binder Park in Jefferson City. This may be one of my favorite shoots of all time!

Codi & Sarah- Kansas City Missouri

As I was chatting with Sarah over the phone about her wedding, visions, and style, I knew we were a perfect match. Her and Codi met while she was working at her Dad’s business. He came in one day and they hit it off. Codi proposed while vacationing in Glacier Park, Montana. Sarah came to me with a unique thought for her engagement session. She wanted to do part of the shoot styled in the 1920’s. They both really love that era and collect antiques and heirlooms from that generation. I was in LOVE with the idea! They wanted the shoot to resemble the movie “Lawless” that depicted a family who made their living off of moonshine in the 1920’s. Sarah has antique chairs, fur coats, pistols, the original blue mason jars they used for transport, and a Model A Ford. How cool is that?!?

For the first part of their session they wanted to take a few around the small town of Pleasant Hill, where they both work at a family owned grain elevator. The downtown area of Pleasant Hill is darling and has several older buildings. I love the small town atmosphere, everyone we passed on the street knew Sarah and Codi and stopped to chat. Their fur baby, June, also posed for some pictures. She is such a cute pup! Nick was unenthused when I came home requesting one just like her :)
