Things are starting to calm down with the onset of cool temperatures and I thought I would get caught up on some blogging. Even thought I am heading into slow season I have lots of new and fun things coming this winter including a new website! Stay tuned there is more :)
I have been shooting so many awesome seniors this past month! Jordan is a senior at Southern Boone in Ashland. I adore her and her family. They are an awesome group of people. Jordan is bubbly and giggly and so much fun to be around. She is a total nature in front of the camera! I could have photographed her all day. Congrats on your senior year Jordan!
This year has went by too fast. My 2013 wedding season has came to an end for the year. The fall season has been so beautiful! I am thankful for all the colors that stayed longer than usual. There isn't a better couple I would have chosen to close out the season than Alyson and Michael. They are a super fun couple, and I had no doubt their wedding would beautiful. They decide to have a small wedding at Michael's parents home. Their home is tucked away in the country and has beautiful views for miles. They said their I Do's in the front yard. It was small, sweet, and perfect.
After the ceremony, they held a toast with their guests to ring in the their new marriage. Close friends and family were able to congratulate the new couple. As guests headed to the reception, I got some one on one time with the Cowan's. The photo opportunities at their farm were endless. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect day.
They held their reception at Matt's Steakhouse. They were several sweet and funny speeches made by the best man and maid/matron of honor. Dinner and dancing followed. Let me tell you the Cowan's are good dancers! I was so happy to be apart of this wedding day. It is wonderful to shoot weddings from my hometown and see so many familiar faces. Best wishes for a long and happy life Michael & Alyson!

Have you heard of Chic Critique
? It's a really great group of ladies that are dedicated to forming a community and being a resource for women in photography. You can't top that in my book. I was just introduced to this company this year through a photography friend of mine. I noted that they hold an annual photo contest. I normally don't put myself out there, but I made a resolution that this year would be different. You can't be afraid to grow.
A long term goal of mine is teach others. When I completed my bachelors, I went on to receive my MBA in Marketing. I LOVE marketing and I feel like I have learned from some of the best professors in the world. Two years after I received my MBA, the Dean of my Alum University invited me back to teach a semester of online business. Whoa, I was 26 with no teaching experience and I considered those kids peers. What I didn't know was how much this experience would change my course in life and goals. The passion of watching others grow and learn is so exciting! Not to mention how much I learned and grew from that class. I later taught a photography course for another college in my community and knew that it was something I eventually wanted to pursue.
I decided to enter a few weeks ago and started brainstorming. You can only enter one image and this image must represent your style and skill. I opted to take advantage of this opportunity and do a shoot I have been picturing in my head for months. A sailboat with a gorgeous girl. I consider my style airy, romantic, and soft. I love photographing the beautiful things around me. I also like to make ideas come to life that may not be common for Central Missouri. Specials thanks to Abbey and Paul Rudder with The Sailing Association in Jefferson City for making this all come together.
The winner of this contest will receive the honor of helping others grow in photography. Being apart of this elite group of women would be an amazing honor!
