Congrats to Joey and Becca, this wedding day was insanely gorgeous and one that would make history in Jefferson City. Their ceremony was at the Immaculate Conception Church and their reception was at the Missouri Governors Mansion. It was a very special honor and privilege to have their reception at the Mansion. It is not normally available for weddings, and they have not had a wedding there since the Caranhan administration. It was a beautiful location, the Mansion has a vintage elegance and timeless pieces treasured from our states history.
Becca was born and raised in Jefferson City, she moved to DC in 2009 for an internship. That internship would turn into a job, and the following year, she met Joey very randomly at a bar on Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend. That chance meeting would develop into a lifelong love – across years, continents, families and career shifts. They’ve been through some incredible highs and unspeakable lows, but it’s made their relationship all the more stronger.
Joey proposed in August of 2016, the weekend before they were due to close on their new home. They created a bucket list of all of the touristy things they wanted to do before moving. One of those items was touring the George Washington Masonic Memorial. After venturing through the museum up to the top of the memorial, they wandered through the adjacent gardens on their way to grab a celebratory drink at their “special occasion place”, Brabo tasting room. Becca assumed the celebration was for their upcoming home purchase. As they made their way through the gardens, Joey mentioned how glad he was that they had finally explored the memorial – and speaking of things he had been meaning to do for a long time – got down on one knee and proposed!
As Becca’s dad, John, said: “they compliment each other – of course they say nice things to one another – but they also complement each other. On the surface, the two of them are extraordinarily different, but deep down, they are cut from the same cloth.” Congrats to you both! Wishing you a lifetime of happiness :)
