Shelby Senior 2014, Jefferson City Missouri

Shelby’s senior session was photographed on possibly the coldest day of the year! She did amazing and I only heard her teeth chatter once :) Shelby is a 2014 senior at Jefferson City High School. She is absolutely gorgeous and has the sweetest personality. I really enjoyed our session together. After school she plans on attending college.

I know the popular time of the year is summer and early fall, but there is something that I love about a winter senior session. The winter chill and I don’t normally get along, but I can’t resist that warm soft winter sunlight. We started Shelby’s photo-shoot in the small town of Lohman, which is about 15 minutes from Jeff City. She has fond memories of passing through that town as a child on her way to visit family. The little town is picturesque a perfect reflection of small town USA. I hope to travel back there for more photo-shoots. Since Shelby loves the outdoors we also made a stop of Binder State Park.

One of the most cumbersome steps of your senior pictures is determining what to wear to your photo-shoot. When I visualize my senior shoots, I turn to magazines and research the latest fashion trends. I want my seniors to feel like they have stepped out of a magazine. Think beyond causal and your day to day wardrobe. These are your seniors pictures, dress it up! I plan on doing several posts on outfits and the style that I love, but I wanted to share some of my inspiration.

To aid in this process, I have dedicated boards on my Pinterest account to help inspire you. They are named Fashion For Ladies, Fashion For Guys, and Photo-shoot Styling and Props. There are a couple of other boards that I have dedicated to shoes and jewelry if you like to find your inspiration from accessories. All of the outfits that I post are what I believe will photograph well. Keep in mind your body shape and what you feel fabulous in! Alex, 2014 Helias Senior

I have been so excited to blog Alex’s senior session! She is a total knock-out! The Kardashian’s have nothing on this girl. Alex is a 2014 senior at Helias High School in Jefferson City. After high school, she plans to become a large animal vet. Alex has a horse named Misty and wanted to incorporate Misty into her senior pictures. After we photographed downtown, we went out to the family farm where Misty lives. Misty was one of the easiest animals I have ever photographed. She listened so well to Alex.

Jordan, 2014 Helias Senior

I can’t believe we have made it to October already! The best thing about this time of the year is all the senior sessions! I love the cool temperatures and the changing seasons. Jordan is a beautiful 2014 senior from Helias. She was so fun to work with! We even explored a few new locations together which is always fun for me. I feel so lucky to get to work with all these lovely ladies.

Mackenzie, 2014 Helias Senior

I had to pinch myself several times through Mackenzie’s session. It is hard to believe this girl isn’t a professional model. She stunning and so natural in front of a camera. We danced through the streets of Jeff City!

We started her shoot downtown for an urban look then headed out to the Katy Trail. Mackenzie wore her grandma’s wedding ring set for a few shots. Such a neat family heirloom!
